WIN Conference in Rome starting on October 5

Families in Global Transition Conference in Washington, DC

The annual Families in Global Transition conference is coming up soon and I can only recommend this event. The 2011 event will take place from March 17 - 19 in Washington, DC.

Research on early returnees - request for participation

As cross-cultural trainer and coach, I know about the challenges of living abroad and the factors that make or break an assignment. However, solid research is still limited. If assignments end prematurely, the reasons for these early returns are usually not captured. I am therefore glad to support Dr. Nina Cole, an Associate Professor from Ryerson University, Toronto, in her study on expat early returns. I met Nina at the Families in Global Transition Conference in Houston last year and was very impressed with her research approach.

Talk Party "Living Your Best Life Abroad"

Jeanne Heinzer, author of "Living Your Best Life Abroad" will be hosting a Talk Party at Bergli Books in Basel (Ruemelinsplatz 19) on 5th May, 2010 from 6.30 - 8.30 p.m. Everybody is welcome.

I have been a contributing expert to this book and Jeanne and I are both thrilled about the feedback that we have received from the international expatriate community.

COACHING - beyond the buzzword

There is no doubt - coaching is the new buzzword. Hardly any trainer or consultant who does not have "Coach" printed on his business card. A flood of coaching schools and certification courses have appeared out of nowhere and I receive inquiries for "one-day coachings to provide information, tipps and background knowledge." This makes me wonder whether clients and providers really understand what coaching is all about.
