I have been invited to present a case study at this month's meeting of the International Coach Federation's Expat/Intercultural Special Interest Group on January 11th at 10 am EST (4pm CET).

Maureen Rabotin's book "Culture Savy. Working and Collaborating Across the Globe" is now available. Her thoughts are based on the four R - respect, relationships, recognition, and rewards and she shares her vast experiences as a corporate manager, consultant, trainer and global leadership coach.

The book is a practical toolkit for global leaders and a great read for anyone who works internationally.

The annual WINConference, a global leadership forum, will take place from October 5 to October 8 in Rome.  Founder Kristin Engvig and her team have put together an exciting programme with participants from the corporate world, governmental and non-governmental organizations from around the world.

The annual Families in Global Transition conference is coming up soon and I can only recommend this event. The 2011 event will take place from March 17 - 19 in Washington, DC.

Together with my co-facilitator Jeanne Heinzer, I will be running a workshop at this year's W.I.N. Global Leadership Conference in Paris, 6 - 9 October.

Robin Pascoe is a household name when it comes to expatriate issues. A journalist and diplomat's wife, she has been sharing her insights and experiences in her talks, books, articles and online for many years. 

As cross-cultural trainer and coach, I know about the challenges of living abroad and the factors that make or break an assignment. However, solid research is still limited. If assignments end prematurely, the reasons for these early returns are usually not captured. I am therefore glad to support Dr. Nina Cole, an Associate Professor from Ryerson University, Toronto, in her study on expat early returns. I met Nina at the Families in Global Transition Conference in Houston last year and was very impressed with her research approach.

Jeanne Heinzer, author of "Living Your Best Life Abroad" will be hosting a Talk Party at Bergli Books in Basel (Ruemelinsplatz 19) on 5th May, 2010 from 6.30 - 8.30 p.m. Everybody is welcome.

I have been a contributing expert to this book and Jeanne and I are both thrilled about the feedback that we have received from the international expatriate community.

There is no doubt - coaching is the new buzzword. Hardly any trainer or consultant who does not have "Coach" printed on his business card. A flood of coaching schools and certification courses have appeared out of nowhere and I receive inquiries for "one-day coachings to provide information, tipps and background knowledge." This makes me wonder whether clients and providers really understand what coaching is all about.

An exciting conference will take place in Shanghai on Thursday, 18th March 2010. "New Ways of Working - Shape your world with coaching" is presented by the International Coach Academy (ICA) and Lobii sponsored by Adecco/Lee Hecht Harrison.
