The 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party is underway in Beijing, an event that takes place every five years. In his report to around 2,300 party delegates, President Xi Jinping has reiterated his plans for a modern socialist country with "Chinese characteristics". In a 14-point roadmap, Xi defines official party policies to modernize the economy, strengthen the socialist democracy, build cultural confidence and improve the people's wellbeing.
European interculturalists will be meeting in Dublin, Ireland, from May 22 to May 27 for the SIETAR Europa Congress 2017. I am looking forward to sharing experiences, learning about the latest intercultural research, discussing developments in society and business and meeting dear colleagues and friends from around the world.

I am honored to receive the 2016 HFU Teaching Award for my class Intercultural Managment. Nominated and evaluated first by HFU's students, an expert jury assessed the quality of teaching and the effectiveness of methods.

I have been invited to deliver this year's first Executive MBA "Best Practices" Lecture at the HFU Business School. The talk "War for Talents - Best Practices for Integrating and Retaining Foreign Employees" will commence at 5.30 pm on January 22, 2016 at Furtwangen University's Schwenningen Campus, Room E 0.04. I look forward to an interesting discussion and all guests are welcome.

InterChange 2015 - ti communication's Gerhard Hain and Susanna Bezzel have put together a wonderful event on October 2, 2015 in the historic Salzstadel in Regensburg. It was a privilege to be part of this event as a presenter and the feedback from participants was encouraging and rewarding.

My evening talk "Understanding Germans" on November 26, 2015 at the WelcomeCenter in Schwenningen was well received by foreign employees and their partners, international students, and even long-time residents with a foreign background.
Our partner ti communication's 15th anniversary celebration takes place on 2 October 2015 in Regensburg. Gerhard Hain and Susanna Bezzel are inviting clients, partners and friends to INTERCHANGE '15, a day of interactive workshops, exchange of ideas and an opportunity to discuss trends in global business. Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's first prime minister, died this morning, aged 91. He passed away only months before the 50th anniversary of Singapore's independence from Malaysia in August. My heartfelt condolences go out to all Singaporean clients and friends.
